African Music Diary is a document of the unfolding of understanding of African musics. The Diary was founded to share a passionate knowledge of African music with those perhaps unfamiliar with the depth of styles and expressions among the wide variety of cultures of the continent.

Diana Thompson, trained and experienced in performing western styles of music, is an African music enthusiast. She works as the manager of a western classical chorus and the office manager of a music academy for predominantly African-American, Ethiopian and Eritrean students.
